Science based activities in both the lab and classroom are meant to be a learning experience that is fun and engaging for all students. However safety should always be the first priority. Rules and regulations should be reviewed with students prior to activities being conducted.

- Listen carefully to all verbal and written instructions before proceeding with the activity.
- Keep all work areas clean and tidy at all times.
- Do not eat or drink in the laboratory.
- Know the location and operation of all safety equipment such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, fire blankets and eye wash stations. Know where all fire exits are located.
- Dress properly for the lab activity. Wear lab coats at all times, tie long hair back, and any jewelry or baggy clothing must be secured. Shoes must completely cover the foot.
- Conduct yourself in a practical manner. Inappropriate behaviour such as horseplay and practical jokes are dangerous.
- Notify your teacher of any unsafe conditions.
- Dispose of any waste products properly and be sure your work space is neat and tidy before you leave the lab.
